Press release - Frank Valeriote appointed to Agriculture & Agri-Food Committee

Frank Valeriote, Member of Parliament for Guelph, has been appointed to the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.

It’s an exciting opportunity for me to focus on Canada’s agriculture industry and our nation’s food supply,” said Valeriote. “There’s no doubt that Canada’s farming industry is facing enormous challenges but is also presented with an exciting range of opportunity with constantly evolving advances and innovation in technology.”

The Committee focuses on bills, expenditures and activities of the organizations that are part of the Agriculture and Agri-Food portfolio, including issues such as farm income, food safety, pesticides and the wheat board.

Guelph is a centre for agriculture and food research and policy development in Canada. We have a unique connection to the farming industry with the presence of the Ontario Agricultural College and being home to many associations and stakeholders that serve the agriculture community,” said Valeriote. “I look forward to working with those stakeholders and my parliamentary colleagues to address the issues that are important to agriculture and agri-food in Canada.”
